Powder Coatings

Powder coatings are one of the fastest growing markets in the coatings industry. Due to its specific properties Gemme Fine is part of this. Low binder demand allow high filling rates. The low hardness increases service time and throughput of the extruder.

Thin film powder paint and coatings for white applications benefit from the use of Gemme Fine barium sulfate, which has been traditionally used as a white extender that both increases specific gravity and improves the chemical resistance of the surface coating. Due to the exceptional brightness of Gemme Fine, as much as 30% of the titanium dioxide (TiO2) can be replaced in the formulation while retaining excellent coverage and gloss.

Gemme White micronised baryte products is used in a range of powder coating formulations due to its low oil absorption capabilities and ease of application.
